Padraic :: Senior Portraits

Padraic (pronounced like Patrick) was my first senior portrait shoot and I couldn't have been happier with the subject or the results! Padraic is your typical teenager, interested in skateboarding, video games, and his beloved Volvo. I went to Salem for the session because he really wanted his car in some of the shots and he just wasn't sure if the car could make the hour trip up to Portland. Ahhhh...I remember my first car fondly too.

We found a great industrial looking alley that had so many backdrops to choose from. I was in heaven and Padraic was a good sport about me twittering about getting excited about rows of meters, blue doors, and brick walls. In the end I think we captured him in a way that made his parents, the school, and him happy!

Becky & Brian :: Wedding

Ahhhhh....details. They are the things that overwhelm you when planning for a wedding, but are also the things that come together to make your day special, and most importantly they are all about YOU. Whether it's funky shoes to wear under your dress, or earrings that your grandmother wore at her wedding, all those little details come together to show your personality! Becky chose lime green shoes to match her bridesmaid's dresses and boy did they really POP when her toes peaked out! Stuff like that just makes my day, and I love finding it without you telling me...it's like my own personal scavenger hunt.

Becky and Brian are two of the most laid back people I've ever met. It would make sense then that they chose to get married at McMenamins Grand Lodge in the forever gorgeous and rustic octagonal barn. Although rain was threatening to fall Mother Nature held off. Here are a few of my favorites from their day.

Becky & Brian :: Engagement

I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I LOVE engagement sessions! The candid moments just flow one right after another and the couple is so happy. It's great to watch and I enjoy being a part of it. Becky and Brian chose to have their photos taken at the gorgeous Cathedral Park in St. Johns because they live nearby and it holds special meaning for the two of them. Depsite their concerns about being nervous in front of the camera they both did an amazing job. Here are some of my favorites from their shoot.

Denham Family

I believe it's always important to take family photos (ad nauseum to my own family I'm sure!), but people, especially kids, change more quickly than we realize and it's fun to look back at 'how we were.' Adding to that the fact that a lot of families don't live in close proximity. Shouldn't every family have a portrait hanging somewhere in their house...every year! This is important people!! :)

Well, the Denham's think so! That's why when their family from New Hampshire came to town they jumped at the chance to get some group shots to document the 3 small cousins together. With a newborn and 2 other young ones we kept it low key and fun at Johnson Creek Park in SW Portland. There was no need to worry though, as Will and Kayla were two of the most well-behaved children I've ever photographed and they were the perfect big cousins to little Wally (who slept most of the time)! The adults were well behaved too. Here are a few of my favorites from their shoot.

Margaret & Brad Engagement

Engagement photos are a fun thing to shoot. The couples are always oozing love for each other and very excited about the upcoming wedding, but this shoot was even more fun for me since it involved a lovely lady that I've known since I was 5 years old! Needless to say we've been through many chapters in life together and I was delighted to photograph the beginning of her next one. Margaret and Brad are two very special people who have found the perfect match in each other. They are sweet, goofy, adventurous, and extremely photogenic!
